Abstract:

There are lots of productive seabeds in the Aegean Sea. Some of them are appropriate for commercial fishing gears such as trawl, trammel net and longline. In contrast there are so many rocky shoals where are provide shelter for especially high prized species. Recreational fishermen started to use a new design of angle which was created for big sparids such as Dentex dentex, Pagrus pagrus, Pagrus ehrenbergi. Also Epinephelus costae specimens are caught rarely with this new design angle which is baited with fresh squid or cuttlefish. This new method has history less than a year, but lots of recreational fishermen started to use it extensively. In this study, technical plan and operational details of this fishery were given with catch composition.

Keywords: angle, recreational fishermen, sparids, Aegean Sea.
